A Lesson in Flight

Since some of you have recently returned from flights to far away places, what better time to learn about flying!  And you might even get some Science Fair ideas as well!  Explore the history and principles of flight as well as careers in aeronautics on AllStar Network: Principles of Flight.   Level 1 is designed for Middle/Junior High students, while Level 2 is aimed toward Junior High/High School.  Level 3 is intended for High School/Lower College students (or perhaps parents/teachers).  Find out what's been happening in recent  aeronautical research projects. You will need to install plug-ins (if you don't already have them) in order to fully utilize this site, but thorough instructions are supplied. After satisfying your curiosity about how planes fly, surf on over to a wonderful website, Design an Airplane, where you can get some "Hands On" experience.  Here it becomes the user's task to design an airplane that will accomplish a given assignment. If you're craving even more information on flight and airplanes, there is  the National Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian Institute and the outstanding website of The U.S. Air Force Museum.
