Let's Go Fly A KITE!

Now that the days are getting warmer (and windier!), thoughts drift to flying kites.   I have great memories of the kite flying that my brother, sister and I did with our Dad when we were kids.  We had a BIG "bird" kite that was made out of cloth with many bright colors.  Oh, how that kite would soar above our house!  Although making a kite like that is far beyond my skills, I have found that I have no problem making the kite on Little Kite - Big Fun.   This kite can be made by kids 3 and older.  There is a template to print out and instructions to guide you.   If the little kite is not challenging enough, why not step up the level of difficulty and try building a Basic Box Kite.  This one is a little more advanced, but kids 8 and older should be able to do it.  Still not challenged?!  Try Building a Tetrahedron Kite.  This is more complex (and expensive) because you choose the size of your kite!

Impress your parents with your knowledge of some of the History of Kites.  There are many little known facts surrounding the early use of kites!  Last but not least, flying kites can be VERY dangerous.  Please go to Kite Safety to learn some safety tips and how to pick the perfect flying day.  Good luck with whichever kite project you choose!
