Calling All Kids!
And Teachers
And Parents, Too!

Spring will soon be here and so will school science fairs. Your school's science fair is a great learning opportunity and it can be a lot of fun at the same time!  However, it takes time to plan a good project so you should start NOW!  Do you need some ideas for your project?  Start with the Science Fairs Home Page.  This site contains many suggestions for display or experimental projects, and they are listed by level:  Primary  (Grades 1-4),  Elementary  (Grades 4-6),        Intermediate (Grades 7-8), and Senior.  Now that you have some ideas, perhaps you would like some direction through the various steps of the scientific method.  Experimental Science Projects:  An Introductory Level Guide and its companion, An Intermediate Level Guide can be very helpful.  More help is available from the Cyberspace Middle School (CMS).  Although it is designed for students in grades 6-9, it is useful for students in all grades as well as their teachers and parents.  This site is maintained by a professor at Florida State University and sponsored by the National Science Foundation.  Besides offering tips about projects, this site offers a Help Desk in which Dr. Larry Dennis will answer questions or offer help for individual or class projects.  However, be sure to read the directions before submitting your questions.  With all this helpful information available, there should be a lot of you participating in your school science fairs this year!  Even if you don't enter a project in the fair,  remember that you can have fun and learn about science at the same time!
