Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
March 2 is the birthday of Dr. Seuss, so I thought I would revisit the Dr. Seuss site in honor of his accomplishments. This site is updated frequently, so a lot has changed since the last time we visited the site. There are several areas on the main page. Some of them are for purchasing merchandise - Special Offers, and Catalog.
There is a Games area for kids to play Seuss related games online. You must have Shockwave in order to play them, but a link is provided so you can download a free copy of it. Kids age 5 and under may need adult help on some of the games. There are also games you can print to play, such as connect-the-dots, a maze, and coloring.
The Contests area is a Seuss related trivia game that starts new each month. This is a great way for kids 7 and older to test their knowledge of the Dr. Seuss books they have read!
If you are interested in finding out what Seuss events are happening, you can visit the Events area for their complete calendar of events. They even offer a free e-mail service that will keep you posted on the latest events added to the schedule.
Ask The Cat is an area with a list of pre-determined questions that you can e-mail to the Cat for a reply. This is great for 3-5 year olds, but older kids will not enjoy it.
My 4-year-old found the Green Eggs and Ham section under More Fun to be a lot of fun for activity with me. There is an online game (he did not need any help on this one - to my disappointment!), recipes, crafts and an activity.
This summer we will visit the Beach Party site for ideas about what items and snacks to take to the beach.
All in all, this site brings back many wonderful memories for me while it helps create them for my kids. I'm sure it can do the same for you!
