Flank steak is a lean piece of
meat, and the marinade adds a great flavor!
Grilling is where the man of the house can help with the
preparation.
MARINATED FLANK STEAK
| 1 1/2 - 2 lbs flank steak | 2 T dry sherry |
| 1/4 C sesame seed | 1 small onion, diced |
| 1/4 C corn oil* | 1 clove garlic, crushed or 1 tsp powder |
| 1/4 C soy sauce | 1/4 tsp ground black pepper |
| 1/4 C dark corn syrup | 1/4 tsp ground ginger |
With a fork puncture the steak in several places on both sides, or lightly score with a knife.
Place all in a large plastic storage bag and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least four hours, turning it occasionally.
Cook almost to desired
doneness on the gas or charcoal grill. Slice across the
grain into 1/4" slices and place in a low casserole
dish with a lid. Zap it in the microwave for about 1 1/2
minutes to warm just before putting it on the table, or
keep it warm in a conventional oven (but be careful of
the hot serving dish!).
This should make 4-6 servings, depending on your guests'
appetites.
*I usually omit the oil in the marinade, and it doesn't seem to affect the flavor adversely.
